The fuller derivation this dataset is chartered to grow into (not yet what the figures above are; they are each source's own published figure as read): the official monthly material price indices for exactly the components an industrial roof is made of - fabricated structural steel, coated steel sheet, insulating materials - carried forward each month and differenced against the same month a year earlier, then indexed against this site's own median published installed rate per system, so the page can say whether contractors' quoted rates are moving with the material indices or away from them.
The statistical agency publishes the index; nobody joins it to what roofers actually quote.
